Votenoted Terms of Service
Effective date: October 13, 2026
Thank you for using Votenoted. We built it to show public votes by U.S. politicians in a clear way, with a link to the source for each fact. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and us. We wrote them to be as clear and fair as we can.
When we say "Company", "we", "our", or "us", we mean Mil Villas LLC, a Florida limited liability company. When we say "Services", we mean the Votenoted website at votenoted.com and everything on it. When we say "you" or "your", we mean the person who uses the Services.
Votenoted is free. We do not sell your data. We can update these Terms. When we make a significant change, we change the date at the top and show a notice on the site before the change takes effect. When you use the Services, you agree to the latest Terms. If we do not enforce a right in these Terms, we do not give up that right. These Terms contain a limit on our liability.
If you break these Terms, we can close your account.
What Votenoted is
Votenoted shows votes by public officials, with related facts from public records. Each fact has a link to its source and a date. We state facts only. We do not say why anyone voted as they did.
Not partisan. Mil Villas LLC has no ties to any political party, campaign, political action committee (PAC), or lobbying firm. We do not support any party or candidate. We apply the same rules to every politician.
Not advice, and data can be wrong
Votenoted is not legal, financial, tax, or voting advice. Public records can contain errors, and our software can make mistakes. A card marked "Unverified" is not yet confirmed. Check the source link before you rely on a fact.
Our Services have bugs, like all software. We fix the ones that we find, starting with security and privacy bugs. We do not promise that we fix every bug, or that the Services meet your needs.
Account Terms
- You can read the feed without an account. Some features need one. Our sign-in provider, Clerk, runs the sign-in.
- You must be 13 years old or older to use Votenoted.
- You must be a person. Accounts that bots or other automated methods register are not allowed.
- Give true information. You are responsible for the security of your sign-in. We are not liable for loss or damage that comes from your failure to keep it safe.
- You are responsible for all content that you post and all activity under your account.
- If someone uses your account without your permission, write to us (see Contact).
Rules for notes, checks, and reports
When you write a note, rate a note, check a card, or send a report, you must obey these rules:
- Give a link to a public source for each note.
- Do not state false facts about a person or a group.
- Do not harass, annoy, intimidate, or threaten anyone.
- Do not post personal information, such as a home address or a phone number.
- Do not post the names of individual donors.
- Do not state or suggest that a politician acted for a hidden reason.
- Do not pretend to be another person or organization, and do not make false reports.
- Do not advertise or ask for money or votes.
- Do not spam, use bots, or manipulate ratings, for example with many accounts.
- Do not collect data from accounts that are not yours.
- Do not bypass or interfere with the security of the Services.
- Do not upload malware or tracking devices, such as web bugs.
- Do not interfere with the Services or put an undue load on them.
- Do not break the law or the rights of other people.
To report a note or a user that breaks these rules, use the report button or write to us (see Contact). Give the link and tell us what you found. We do not tell the user whom you reported who you are. We can close an account that breaks these rules, without prior notice.
Your notes and content
You own the notes that you write. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, show, format, score, and share your notes and ratings on Votenoted. We use this license only to run the Services. You promise that you have the right to give this license.
Readers write notes. We do not write, edit, or endorse them. We do not check notes before they show. We can refuse or remove any note, in our sole discretion, but we have no duty to do so.
Software, moderation, and corrections
Software decides most of what shows on Votenoted. We can also hide a card or a note after a review. Software can make mistakes. If you think that a decision is wrong, write to us (see Contact) and ask for a review by a person.
To report an error on a card, use the report button on the card, or write to us. Include the card link, and a link to the official record if you can. We review each report. If we find an error, we correct the card or hide it. If the official record is wrong, ask the agency that keeps it to correct it. We do not remove accurate public records.
Campaign finance data
Federal law (52 U.S.C. 30111(a)(4)) does not let anyone use contributor information from Federal Election Commission (FEC) records to ask for contributions or for a commercial purpose. Votenoted shows money totals by employer and industry only. It shows no individual donor names. The same rule applies to Virginia data. Do not use the campaign finance data to ask for contributions or for a commercial purpose.
Cancellation and Termination
- To close your account and delete your data, write to us (see Contact). When we close your account, we delete its data, including its notes, as the Privacy Policy says.
- We can suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, or if we find that your use harms the Services or other people. Suspension means that you cannot sign in. Ending your access also means that we delete your account.
- Abuse or threats against us or our staff end your access at once.
Changes to the Services
We can change or stop any part of the Services at any time, with or without notice. We do this when a feature does not work well, when a data source changes, or when we decide that a part of Votenoted can be better.
Uptime, security, and privacy
- You use the Services at your own risk. We provide them "as is" and "as available". We take uptime seriously, but we do not promise that the Services are accurate, complete, uninterrupted, or error-free.
- We use encrypted connections and limit access to our data. We use outside providers for hosting, the database, sign-in, email, and tips. The Privacy Policy lists them.
- We process your data as the Privacy Policy describes, and for no other purpose.
Copyright and content ownership
- All content posted on the Services must obey U.S. copyright law. Mil Villas LLC is our designated agent for copyright notices.
- To tell us about an infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. 512), write to us (see Contact). Your notice must include the items in 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3): your signature; the work that you say is infringed; where we can find the material; your contact details; a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not allowed; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you act for the owner.
- If we remove your note and you believe that we did it by mistake, you can send a counter-notice. It must include your signature, a description of the material and where it was, your contact details, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith that the removal was a mistake, and a statement that you accept the jurisdiction of the courts named in the Governing law section. We close the accounts of repeat infringers.
- We own the Votenoted software and design, and you get no ownership of them by use. You can share links to cards and quote them. You must not scrape Votenoted, copy large parts of it, or reproduce, sell, or exploit the Services without our written permission.
- Government records keep their own rules. These Terms do not limit your rights to public records or to open data. LegiScan vote data stays under CC BY 4.0.
Tips
Tips are voluntary. They are not refundable, except as the law requires. A tip buys no service and no influence.
Liability
We mention liability in several places in these Terms. This section puts it all in one place.
You understand and agree that the Company is not liable, in law or in equity, to you or to any third party for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses, even if we were told that they could happen. This applies to damages that result from: (i) the use or the inability to use the Services; (ii) unauthorized access to or change of your transmissions or data; (iii) statements or conduct of any third party on the Services; or (iv) any other matter that relates to these Terms or the Services, whether under contract, tort (including negligence), or any other theory of liability.
Votenoted is free, and you use it at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, we provide it with no warranties of any kind.
If a court decides that we are liable in spite of this section, our total liability for all claims about Votenoted is one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims, losses, and costs, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that come from your content, your breach of these Terms, or your misuse of Votenoted.
Governing law
The laws of the State of Florida and U.S. federal law govern these Terms. All disputes go to the state or federal courts in Leon County, Florida. There is no arbitration.
Other terms
If a court finds a part of these Terms unenforceable, the other parts stay in effect. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the full agreement between you and us about Votenoted.
